Molecular Nutrition Laboratory
Head of laboratory:
This laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms that support the sensing of nutrients. Particular emphasis has been placed on the mechanisms that underlie the sensing of amino acids and divalent cations such as Ca2+.
Current research:
- The mechanisms by which calcium-sensing receptors are regulated by amino acids
- The mechanisms by which calcium and amino acids activate intracellular signaling pathways
- The roles of amino acid sensing G-protein coupled receptors in proliferation, differentiation, cell survival, hormone secretion and transepithelial transport.
