Cell & Reproductive Biology Laboratory
Head of laboratory:
Considerable evidence indicates that uterine epithelial cells are of key importance during early pregnancy and blastocyst attachment, with the plasma membrane of these cells undergoing a unique, hormone-mediated transformation in preparation for pregnancy. As such, the major research interest of this laboratory is to understand the molecular and structural changes of the plasma membrane of uterine epithelial cells during early pregnancy and blastocyst attachment, with a view to understanding how this contributes to uterine receptivity and the start of pregnancy. More broadly, this laboratory studies the biology of the uterus and has interests in assisted fertility and menopausal health. This laboratory collaborates with clinicians on applied problems in women's health.
