Neuroimmunology Laboratory

Head of laboratory:

Inflammatory responses are regulated by hormone-like proteins called cytokines. Such responses may contribute to many of the structural and functional alterations in the central nervous system (CNS) in a variety of debilitating neurological disorders, for example, multiple sclerosis, stroke and infectious disease. The overall goal of this laboratory's research is to advance understanding of the basic molecular mechanisms that control inflammatory processes in the CNS. Ultimately the information derived from our studies could identify key molecular substrates of cytokine action that could serve as rational targets for the development and testing of novel therapeutic strategies.
