From the Executive Director
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Young Investigators section of the Bosch Institute's web site.
An important part of the mission of the Bosch Institute is to support young scientists through their doctoral training and post-doctoral years.
That support is offered in three ways.
First, the Institute has established and fostered three core facilities in the areas of:
These are engine rooms of research, available to every laboratory and therefore every student and postdoc in the Institute, and beyond. They offer training so that you can become independent in a wide range of techniques, which can add strength and depth to your research. Two new facilities, specialising in oxidative stress and animal behaviour are planned this year, as the Institute seeks to establish new standards of infrastructure support.
In addition, we support a range of Young Investigator functions and events – a Retreat, an annual Symposium, and social events, designed both to ‘enrich the student experience’ but also to add an element of fun and enjoyment to the hard work of bench research. These are organised by a Bosch Young Investigators Organising Committee. One member of the Institute's Executive Leadership Group, currently Associate Professor Frank Lovi’s, serves as the Bosch Young Investigators Coordinator.
Finally, we recognise and encourage the highest quality of student and postdoc research with a series of awards and prizes.
I trust you will enjoy your time as a Young Investigator and wish you the very best for your research.
